Boston - Tudor

Tudor Dornescu


A native of Romania, violinist Tudor Dornescu completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Violin Performance in 2013 at Boston University. Prior to his DMA degree, he obtained his Bachelor of Music from the National University of Music in Bucharest, Romania, and a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance from Rice University, Houston, TX.

During 2005-06, Mr. Dornescu attended the Cork School of Music in Ireland as an “Erasmus” International Exchange student where he studied classical violin with Gregory Ellis and Adrian Petcu.

Mr. Dornescu has participated in numerous competitions and received multiple highest honors. His most recent appearances as a teacher and performer in summer festivals include the Luzerne Music Center, the 2017 Tanglewood BUTI Summer Program where he performed chamber music with fellow BUTI faculty and members of the BSO, the 2013 Castleton Music Festival, VA, under the guidance of Maestro Lorin Maazel, the 2012 Duxbury Music Festival in Duxbury, MA, the 2010 “Spoleto USA” (Charleston, SC) and the Yehudi Menuhin Summer Academy (Blonay, Switzerland).

Mr. Dornescu has performed across the US, Asia, and Europe in venues such as Kennedy Center (Washington, DC), Jordan Hall and Symphony Hall (Boston, MA), Fukuoka Symphony Hall (Japan), Shanghai City Theater, MAO Livehouse Beijing, Concertgebouw (Amsterdam, Holland), National Concert Hall (Ireland), Romanian Atheneum and the National Radio Hall (Romania). Since 2009, Mr. Dornescu performs regularly in the Boston area with some of the city’s finest ensembles. Together with his violinist wife Aleksandra Labinska, he has completed a 22-city performing tour in China as a member of the Mirage Violin Duo. 

A versatile musician, Tudor Dornescu plays regularly the electric violin and has collaborated with pop-rock artists such as the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Video Game Orchestra, Evanescence, Celtic Thunder, Sarah Brightman, Andrea Bocelli, and many others. His musical inspirations range from the solo keyboard works of J.S. Bach to the heavy metal beats of Metallica and System Of A Down. Tudor can be heard on labels such as BMOP Sound, Soundtrec, and other independent recording studios.

Aleksandra Labinska


Aleksandra Labinska is a versatile violinists performing as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. She is an eager collaborator on contemporary music projects and is a highly sought after violinists for solo recitals, recording and educational outreach concerts. Aleksandra frequently ventures outside of the classical music realm to pop and rock concerts, video game music and film scoring recordings. She has collaborated with artists such as Hansen String Theory, Evanescense, Irish Thunder, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Andrea Bocelli, Placido Domingo, Kygo, Game of Thrones production, Il Volo to name a few. Aleksandra is a section member of the Grammy award winning Albany Symphony, Vermont Symphony and Symphony New Hampshire. She frequently performs with the Hartford Symphony as well as Cape Cod Symphony.


As a chamber musician she is a member of with Virtuoso Soloists of New York, Voyage Piano Trio as well as the Mirage Violin Duo. Aleksandra’s toured with the Boston Chamber Orchestra in southern Japan and participated in the World Music Festival performing throughout mainland China. She had the privilege of participating in festivals including Banff Center Music Festival, Toronto Summer Music Academy and Festival, International Bach Festival with Helmuth Rilling at University of Toronto, Lancut International Music Courses In Poland, St. Lawrence String Quartet Chamber Music Seminar at Stanford University, Castleton Music Festival in Virginia under the direction of Maestro Lorin Maazel and AIMS festival in Graz, Austria.


She frequently collaborates with the Boston String Ensemble as well as Atlantic Strings on performing projects and can be heard on BMOP sounds, Naxos recording and WGBH broadcasting. Aleksandra appeared as a soloist with the Mooredale Concerto Players in Toronto, and Ostinato Chamber Orchestra in Poland. Her concert activities had taken her, Stefaniensaal in Austria, Roy Thomson Hall (Toronto) and Fukuoka Symphony Hall (Japan) as well as TD Gardens, to Boston’s Symphony Hall, Kennedy Center (Washington DC), New York Town Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw Mohegan Sun and large arenas across New England.

As a teacher, Aleksandra serves as an Adjunct Violin/Viola Faculty at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Music Department and during the summer months at the Luzerne Music Center. Her previous appointments included Boston University Tanglewood Institute Violin Workshop Faculty, South Shore Conservatory, Point CounterPoint Music Center and Boston Suzuki Institute collaboration. Aleksandra holds a Doctorate and Masters degree from the Boston University College of the Arts under the tutelage of Professor Yuri Mazurkevich. Her undergraduate studies were completed at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music and University of Toronto, Faculty of Music. 

Oliver Chang

Oliver Chang


A native of Concord, Massachusetts, violist Oliver Chang performs with the Fenway Quartet, Boston String Ensemble, and the Lexington Symphony Orchestra. He serves on the faculty at the Youth and Muse Music Festival and the Sudbury Valley New Horizons Music Program. Oliver also teaches violin and viola at the Wayland School Community Program, and maintains a private teaching studio in Framingham. Oliver completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Viola Performance at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, and his Master’s Degree and Performance Diploma at the Boston University School of Music.  Previous teachers include Michelle LaCourse, George Taylor, Carol Rodland, and Lisa Suslowicz.


Gabrielle Toscano


Gabrielle Toscano; a native Violist from Long Island, NY has made her mark on Boston’s

music scene since her arrival in 2008 to study with Roger Tapping, current violist of the Juilliard

String Quartet at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA. After graduating with a B.A. in

Viola Performance with honors Magna cum Laude from S.U.N.Y Stony Brook University and a

Master’s Degree and Graduate Performance Diploma with Emphasis in String Pedagogy from

the Longy School of Music. Gabrielle currently has a private violin, viola, and piano studio of

20+ students conduct two youth orchestras at the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School in

Providence, RI, and is an active freelancer throughout the Boston metro area and Cape Cod, MA.

She is beyond delighted to join the RSC faculty as their new conductor for Summer Session II in

2021 and continue to coach and teach chamber music.

In addition to her 18 years of teaching experience, Gabrielle is a dramatic and passionate performer who can interpret any style from J.S. Bach and Brahms up to Bartók and Penderecki in the 21st century. She has worked with many prominent musicians such as the Emerson String Quartet, Katherine Murdock, Roger Tapping, Dimitri Murrath, Eric Rosenblith, Karen Ritscher, the Pacifica Quartet, Colin Carr, and Gil Kalish. Gabrielle has performed chamber, orchestral and solo concerts in Austria, Italy, Texas, California, Florida, Hawaii, Alaska, New York, and Massachusetts. In pre-Covid times Ms. Toscano was performing regularly with Cape Symphony, Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra, Worcester Chorus, Brockton Symphony, Boston New Music The initiative, the Chatham Chorale, Falmouth Chorale, NH Master Chorale, and Co-Founder of the chamber ensemble lecture series titled; Through the Looking Glass as well as the viola duo aptly named DolceDuo. She hopes to get back on stage soon and until then, her main passion continues to teach and inspire the young minds of her students.


Due to the “silver lining" of skills educators and professional musicians developed in 2020, Gabrielle has evolved with the times and has acquired music editing and video production skills. These new tools allow Gabrielle to produce professional virtual string ensemble performances, which allow her students

to collaborate safely, while also gaining musical skills that older students or professional recording artists use regularly. Ms. Toscano is eager, inspired, and motivated to shed light on the power of music to all she teaches and interacts with. Through the combination of performance and education, Gabrielle continually interacts and gives back to her local communities, while broadening her repertoire and providing passionate community service.
