We have performed music for hundreds of events over the years, receiving several awards, establishing Innocenti Strings as the Indianapolis ensemble for live entertainment.
Locally-sourced, conservatory-raised, and free to play with other ensembles, our musicians perform the highest quality music anywhere they are located. They use instruments made out of cherished wood and often play acoustically without the need of an external power source which would make them one of the most environmentally friendly service providers at your event.
The Abel Family Quartet is a unique musical group comprising two
parents and two children, all professional musicians.
Colette and Alfred, Mom and Dad, are both founding members of the
nationally acclaimed Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. In addition,
Alfred serves as concertmaster for several area orchestras, including
the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, the Kokomo Symphony and the
Marion Philharmonic, is Music Director of the Wabash College
Orchestra, and Visiting Artist at Kentucky Wesleyan College. Colette is
Principal Violist of the Marion Philharmonic. Colette and Alfred, before
the birth of their children, toured internationally with the St. Alban
Quartet, which coached with some of the world’s great chamber music
groups: The Tokyo, American, and Chilingirian Quartets, Quartetto
Italiano, and Beaux Arts Trio.
Their children, violinist Benjamin and cellist Clara, are upcoming artists
in their own right: Benjamin is a graduate student at the Frost School
of Music at University of Miami, a fellow with the Henry Mancini
Institute, and an active participant in prestigious music festivals such as
the Britt and Finger Lakes Festivals and the Castleman Quartet Program.
Clara is a graduate student at the Juilliard School, a recipient of the
Kovner Award; she was chosen to be principal cellist for the inaugural
season of the Carnegie Hall National Youth Orchestra in their tour of
Russia and England.
Rachel Gries holds both Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Indiana University. Her primary teachers include Mimi Zweig, Atar Arad, and Stanley Ritchie. Studying violin from the age of four, Rachel is an active performer and teacher. She is a member of the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra and the Carmel Symphony Orchestra. She also performs with various triosstring and quartets in Indianapolis, and with groups throughout the Midwest, including Early Music Saint Louis, Bourbon Baroque (Louisville, KY), and Ars Antiqua (Chicago, IL).
Rachel teaches both violin and viola lessons and serves as the chamber music director and co-executive director of the non-profit Indianapolis Academy of Music. Rachel has coached chamber music and given master classes at the Community Music School of Webster University Baroque String Academy and Adult Chamber Music Summer Intensive. She has taught at the String Academy of Wisconsin and for the Bedford Young Violinists Program.
Davis Brooks comes from a diverse musical background as soloist, pedagogue, orchestral musician, studio musician, concertmaster on Broadway, conductor, and chamber musician. At Yale University, he received a master's degree in violin performance and studied with Broadus Erle and Syoko Aki. His doctorate, also in violin performance, is from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Other important teachers with whom he has worked include Joyce Robbins, George Neikrug, Russell Hatz and Raymond Page; he has studied chamber music with Julius Levine, Josef Gingold, Aldo Parisot, and members of the Tokyo and Guarneri Quartets. Dr. Brooks is interim Concertmaster of the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra.
Cello instructor and co-director for the Indianapolis Academy of Music. Cello instructor for Broad Ripple Performing Arts School, Park Tudor and Metropolitan Youth Orchestra. Also a preschool music teacher at the Interactive Academy in Zionsville, Indiana. Performs with the Village Trio/Quartet as well as local orchestras such as Columbus Symphony, Hendricks County Symphony and Marion Symphony. Also a composer of children's songs and musicals.
